Stormwater Detention/Retention

The District currently regulates stormwater detention/retention through the Stormwater Detention/Retention Manual (PDF format) developed in coordination with the City of Tucson. The District is currently working on revisions to this manual, as discussed below.

Stormwater Policy Review

The Planning and Development Division of the Pima County Regional Flood Control District has begun a review of The Pima County/City of Tucson Stormwater Detention/Retention Manual.  The Stormwater Detention/Retention Manual has been in service for two decades.

The  Division would like to bring stormwater attenuation standards into alignment with standard practices in other, similar jurisdictions.  The Division has the additional goal of considering experience and knowledge gained since the 1980’s to integrate stormwater policy into County-wide comprehensive planning efforts.

Please review the study proposal (PDF format) and proposed study schedule (PDF format) for more information.

Ongoing public comment may be directed to:  e-mail address, and designated Public Comment periods are provided in the schedule.  During those periods, members of the engineering, landscape architecture and planning community will be invited to comment on the study progress.   To add your name to the list of community members to receive comment material, please submit your e-mail address, identifying yourself as interested in the Stormwater Policy Study to e-mail address.
